Check Those Thoughts

2 Corinthians 10:5b (CSB) ..., and we take every thought captive to obey Christ.

Random thoughts come into our minds and stir an emotional or active response from us. With such thoughts we have to use our discernment to check them out. If we don’t sense that our thoughts are connected to the Spirit of Goodness that comes from God, then we need to either change those thoughts or immediately remove them so that they do not linger to hold power over us. The devil sends us random thoughts, too – you know. For example, when someone treats you wrong and thoughts of revenge enter your headspace, change those thoughts to that of forgiveness and blessings toward the individual. Remember, we take every thought captive to obey Christ. That means we make the choice to think and to do the opposite of what un-Christlike thoughts tell us so that ‘we may inherit a blessing’ (1Peter 3:9). Do you often have random thoughts running through your mind? Check their root and purpose with the Word of God, and do not let anything that does not come from the Spirit of Goodness overpower you.
